Meet the Team at St Nicholas' Church, Skirbeck

BaptismThe Reverend Fr Paul Noble SSC - Rector of St Nicholas

Fr Paul Noble is from Norfolk (but his wife, Kate, is from Lincolnshire) and has four sons only one of whom is still at School. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Leeds and an Oxford M.A. after a degree in Theology and has been Rector of Skirbeck since 1998. He is also the Forward-in-Faith Sub-Dean for Lincolnshire.

Before training for the priesthood at S. Stephen’s House, Oxford he was a teacher in King’s Lynn for three years. He served parishes in Gloucestershire for eight years and a group of rural Lincolnshire parishes for eight more years before coming to Skirbeck.

BaptismThe Reverend Fr Ken Targett - Honarary Assistant Priest

Fr Ken Targett has had a widely varied career serving the church in this country before a period in Bush parishes in Western Australia, where some of his family still live.

He returned to this country to be Vicar of Old Leake and Wrangle in Lincoln Diocese until retirement, since when he has assisted at Skirbeck.

BaptismThe Reverend Fr Dick Westland - Honarary Assistant Priest

Fr Dick Westland is very much a local boy.

His church life started as a boat boy at S. Nicholas and his father served as Assistant Curate too.

A Lay Reader in the Diocese for many years he was ordained priest to assist in two local village churches.

In retirement he has returned to where he began.

BaptismThe Reverend Canon Bill Kentigern-Fox - Honarary Assistant Priest

Canon Bill Kentigern-Fox served in the Diocese of Peterborough for most of his priestly life and is an Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral.

On retirement he and his wife moved to Lincolnshire, near Sleaford.

He now travels to Skirbeck each week to assist at S. Nicholas.

Mr Stan Meeds - Churchwarden

Stan Meeds has been Churchwarden for more years than perhaps he cares to remember. His wife was brought up at S. Nicholas’ so he married into it. Retirement has only meant Stan giving more time to the Church as well as to the Red Cross and ex-service organisations.

Mr Carl Reece - Churchwarden

Carl Reece has been churchwarden for only two years. An electrician and steam railway enthusiast (North Norfolk Railway) he also co-ordinates the singing group at S. Nicholas and gives much support to the Committee who run the former Church (now Community) Hall.
